AAC are concentric-lay conductors, made of 1350 aluminum alloy, temper H19 (hard-drawn AAC are concentric-lay conductors, made of 1350 aluminum alloy, temper H19 (hard-drawn aluminum), stranded in one or more layers and each conductor has 7, 19, 37, 61 or 91 wires of the same diameter. All conductors are class AA, according to ASTM B231 standard and are packaged in reels according to NEMA WC 26 standard.

AAC is used in transmission and distribution overhead lines due to its low weight, where it does not require the higher strength ratings provided by ACSR. AAC is easy to handle during installation and uses less complex fittings.

ACSR is a composite concentric-lay-stranded conductor, where there is a core formed by 1, 7 or 19 galvanized steel wires around which is stranded one or more layers of aluminum 1350, H19 wires. The direction of lay is reversed in each layer. The quantity and diameter of the steel wires and aluminum wires vary, giving an alternative relationship between the current-carrying capacity and tensile strength.

ACSR conductors combine the light weight and good conductivity of aluminum with the high tensile strength and ruggedness of steel, and, in line design, this can provide higher tensions, less sag and longer span lengths than obtainable with an all-aluminum conductor.

ACSR conductors comply with the requirements of the latest issue of ASTM B232 and are packaged in reels according to NEMA WC 26 standard.
